Many of you, who are applying to the program have asked me, "Capt Soto, what can I be doing to prepare for the boards?" The answer is don't train for just pull-ups, crunches, and the run. Train your body to work very hard and very fast at different functional movements of the human body. Lift weights, run, swim, bike, and undergo rigorous cardiovascular training but above all else; do these things with the intesity of a wild animal! Qualified young men and women are not selected each year because the boards were very competitive. That will not change any time soon. For the record, Males need to be able to do the following when it comes time to do your official PFT to be competitive for the board: 17+ pullups, 100 crunches in two minutes or less, and the 3 mile run in less than 21 minutes. Females: 70 seconds on the flex arm hang, 100 crunches, and 25 minutes or less on the run. Honestly folks, if you can't do that on your official PFT at contracting then I would suggest maybe you look into the other services because you won't make it for us. If you aren't there now but are dedicated, focused, and committed to getting there and putting in the time necessary, then you are who we are looking for. Intesity is the key. Intensity equals success! |
